what we've been reading lately...

we have learned that we love jane yolen. & dinosaurs. today we went out & got a series of these delightful dinosaur board books. the one in the picture is one we got from the library about 2 weeks ago & have read about 10 000 times. but strangely, neither of us mind. they're so well written, & dave loves that they rhyme. m loves the pictures... everyone is happy.

we're planning to take m to see the dinosaurs at the rom this weekend. we'll see how that goes. :)

baby m gets a haircut.

in waterloo, there is a magical place called cookie cutters, where children can go to get their hair cut while sitting in firetrucks, or boats or helicopters. they can also play video games or watch videos like thomas the tank engine, & afterwards they get a balloon & a lollipop. it's bright and colourful there, & the hair stylists are awesome at their jobs! today, we decided it was time for baby m's mane to be tamed.

it is also necessary to distract him with alligators, while sonia snips away.

but no worries, there were lamps to behold!

relief sale!

m samples cheerios & some of my pork on a bun. other delicacies he tried: sausage on a bun, strawberries with whipped cream, apple rhubarb pie, fleisch piroshki, wellesley apple cider. missed out on: cream buns, tea balls, shoofly pie, herring on a bun, spring rolls, empanadas, pupusas, grandpa's homemade ice cream... next year m will have a bigger stomach.

the very busy, very noisy, very hot! auction house, aka arena: there were so many gorgeous quilts & blankets for sale. one day, when i have lots of money, i'll come back & buy one. ;)

we met so many people we knew... it made kw feel like home.

rattlesnake point & crawford lake

southern ontario is filled with large areas of land the locals call "conservation areas." in order to make the most of the beautiful (well, it is too humid for my taste, but i'm trying to make the best of it) weather, so along wtih avid hikers ali & belinda, who know all the cool places to go, we made our way to rattlesnake point, near crawford lake. now, myriam & mathieu also came along, & especially myriam was promised a "leisurely stroll" through the forest. ha. instead we hiked (!) 18 km. the views were gorgeous, the company delightful... & we all slept well after that!
